30 Jan Top Interior Design Trends for 2019
Whether you’re looking to update your current home or to decorate your brand-new downtown Tampa luxury condo at Elevé 61, it is important that you are aware of the top interior design trends of the new year. Below we have outlined some of the ins and outs of decorating for 2019.
One of the most important aspects of the house is the kitchen. In 2019, kitchens will be utilizing concealed and clever storage solutions that keep the kitchen looking neat and organized. As the trend in kitchens is to open up space, large decorative pendant light fixtures will anchor the space together. Backsplashes will get taller, especially those with heavily veined marble. Hardware will trend toward pewter and gun-metal to add texture without being overpowering. As for kitchen colors, hunter green is the trend that we see coming into the new year.
Integrated appliances, such as induction cooktops, will also continue to grow in popularity in the new year. This is a part of a larger digital technology trend. Many new kitchens will incorporate Wi-Fi enabled espresso makers as well as many other smart phone compatible appliances catered toward the homeowners’ tastes.
Moving into the bedroom, an influential trend is the use of floral fabrics and wallpapers rather than the Ikat and trellis patterns. Although cool grays were all the rage in 2018, interior designers are moving toward the use of warmer neutral tones in the bedroom which point back to the nature and environmental feel that the design trends are moving toward in the new year. This trend is expected to create a calming feel to the home. When considering floors for the bedroom and throughout the home, light wood floors are making a comeback. These floors reflect more light and create a luxurious ambiance in the room.
Perhaps one of the most significant trends of 2019, in every room of the home, is the importance of comfort. From dining room chairs to sofas to carpets, comfort is a trend seen across the board in furniture this year. With this trend, the mid-century themed furniture that was very popular in 2018 is on the decline, and the focus on comfort and warmth is increasing.
If you are looking to change or add decorations throughout your home, look for handmade pieces that are made from sustainable materials such as paper or clay. Many designers are using these types of pieces in the home to create a connection to the earth and nature.
Another way to spice up the room this year is to add in metal accents. These materials can create balance in a room, and some of the recommended metals are the pewter and gun-metal previously recommended in kitchens. Two to three metal accents are sufficient to create the impact without overdoing the room.Back to Article List
